Over the past 25 years I have worked tirelessly to empower individuals and groups of individuals to resolve intra-personal and interpersonal conflict in their everyday lives. Recently, I started the Restorative Hope Youth Conflict Resolution Mentoring Program where I train a cadre of youth and young adults to facilitate conflict resolution training within their own communities. Youth are also introduced to leadership skills that include effective communication, teamwork, work ethic, dependable, positive attitude, and self motivation. As training is free, continued success of this training academy can only be made possible through funding from individuals like you. I know you understand the dire need to restore our communities by reducing hopelessness and violence, while increasing economic opportunities, better school environments, and community cohesion.

We all understand conflict is a natural part of life. However, when understood, conflict can become an opportunity to learn and reconcile our differences. As our youth become the leaders and healers of tomorrow, we must provide them with the knowledge, skills, and encouragement to resolve conflicts in a nonviolent manner, using words instead of fists or weapons.
Using small group discussions, group games and individual reflections, participants will:
Understand the causes of conflict
Identify common characteristics of people in conflict
Learn the styles of responding to conflict
Identify the factors of conflict and how conflict escalates
Learn strategies for de-escalating conflict
Learn interventions and prevention to conflict
Understand neutrality and bias
Learn how to give and receive feedback
Help foster teamwork and collaborative problem-solving
Have meaningful and difficult conversations
Develop leadership skills
Help reduce the level of violence in their communities
Learn to settle conflicts nonviolently, and
Earn community service hours
